When you’re always on the go as an athlete, you get pretty good at figuring out how to make the most of your adventure travel. Over the years, I’ve picked up some hacks that have helped me embrace the adventure while staying prepared. If you’re someone who likes a bit of excitement in your travel, these tips are for you.
1. Keep It Light:I used to overpack, thinking I needed every little thing, but the truth is, less is more when you're moving around a lot. A few key pieces of clothing that can layer well, a good pair of shoes, and always—always—bring sunscreen. Trust me, nothing ruins an adventure like getting fried on the first day.
2. Find the Local Spots:The big tourist spots are great and all, but if you really want to experience a place, ask the locals. They know where the good food is, where the best hidden beaches are, and they’ll usually point you toward something way cooler than anything you’ll find in a guidebook.
3. Document Everything:I used to think I’d remember every trip, but after so many, I realized photos are essential. Capture more than just the typical landmarks—take photos of the people, the markets, even random street corners. It’s those little moments that tell the real story of your adventure. Want to spice it up? Try to replicate your favorite K-drama poses.
4. Embrace the Unplanned:Some of my best experiences came from things not going according to plan. Whether it’s a train delay or a random street festival I didn’t know about, stay open to the unexpected. That’s where the real adventure happens.
